5 Reasons I Love Billy Graham

On Billy Graham’s 96th birthday, I want to repost one of my favorite blogs.

I’m sure I could come up with 50, but I’ve zeroed in on 5 of the biggest reasons that I love Billy Graham.

#1  Billy Graham’s most often repeated phrase in preaching is:  “The Bible says. . .”

Culture didn’t drive his preaching.  Politics didn’t dictate his delivery.  He wasn’t seeker sensitive, He was Spirit sensitive.  Like John Wesley, you could honestly say that Billy Graham is “a man of one book.”  Although many tried to sway him, Billy took the Bible literally and declared it’s simple, clear message faithfully.  After 60 plus years of preaching, he still defers the power of his ministry to the Word of God. The Most Obeyed Command in the Bible

This command is found in Genesis 1:28 and 9:1,7:  “Be fruitful and multiply.”

SMART Bible Reading

There are few things more important in the Christian life than reading the Bible.  It is bible-SunlightGod’s primary way of speaking to us.  The Bible is one of a kind.  It has authority, it is inspired, it is alive with the very breath of God.  And it is crucial that we know it so that we can be effective witnesses of God’s activity on the earth.  The stakes are very high as we get closer to the end of this age.  Imagine the tragedy of being saved, even filled with the Holy Spirit with gifts and graces, but you cannot walk people through the truth of God’s plan and purpose because you have not studied God’s Word.
