Blood Bleeds Blue

uk-basketballAs I write this post, it seems the whole world is coming down with a yearly disorder called March Madness.  I am in the beginning stages of the disease again this year.  I spent about half of my life living in a town called Wilmore, just south of Lexington, Ky.  The primary symptom of those who suffer with this malady where I lived is that our blood bleeds blue. . . University of Kentucky blue.  Not the little boy pastel blue like North Carolina; and a much more royal blue than Duke.  Continue reading

“Aslan is on the move. . .

Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight,

At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more.

When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death.

And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again!”

C.S. Lewis

Dear Friends,

I needed the quote above today; not just because this winter has driven me stir crazy!  I needed that quote because of the fresh reminder that Jesus is on the move!  He is not idle and He is not frustrated.  The marks on His hands and feet still mean that his once and for all sacrifice has been made so that we no longer must pay the penalty for our sins.  The strength that is still in His right arm commands angels as His messengers.  Christ’s plan is still on track and His sovereignty is unquestionable.  He will make the Bride (Church) radiant and will make all things new on this earth.  One day soon He will bare His teeth and shake His mane and winter (suffering) will cease and spring (a brand new age) will come. We get to be on the move with Him! Continue reading

Faith and Will Shehee

1780899_779813305365359_1251179948_nIn the past week, I have witnessed several miracles.

Last Wednesday I heard the news that Will and Etta Shehee were in a tragic auto accident in Uganda where they serve. I was made aware of their serious injuries and that there were attempts being made to save the life of their precious 5 week old daughter, Lydia Rose.  We  immediately spread the word and joined what must have been thousands praying for this family.  Lydia Rose died in Will’s arms, in his words: “like an angel.” Continue reading

The Centrality of the Cross and the Spirit’s Power

the cross-2He went from Athens straight to Corinth.

“After this, Paul left Athens and went to Corinth.”  Acts 18:1

What happened in Athens?  Paul stood  and preached in the Areopagus.  We also know it as Mars Hill.  It was the epicenter of human wisdom.  You can hear echoes from Plato and Socrates.  The Bible says that Paul encountered Epicurean and Stoic philosophers and that there were always both Athenians and foreigners there doing nothing but talking about the latest ideas. Bound to the Trinity

Trinity Logo low rez

I Bind Unto Myself Today

I bind unto myself today
the strong Name of the Trinity,
by invocation of the same,
the Three in One, and One in Three.

I bind this day to me for ever,
by power of faith, Christ’s Incarnation;
his baptism in Jordan river;
his death on cross for my salvation;
his bursting from the spicèd tomb;
his riding up the heavenly way;
his coming at the day of doom:
I bind unto myself today. Continue reading
